Mommy: Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween Gals and Ghouls! This year I channeled my inner Ghosbuster and went as Janine Melnitz from the Ghosbusters 2 movie. I picked up this wig at Spirit Halloween store over the weekend, the glasses were just cheapo sunglasses that I removed the lenses from. I wore a black pencil skirt from J. Crew, a white blouse from Charlotte Russe, and suspenders that I stole from my man's closet. My nails were SUCH a hit, and I was thrilled at how well they turned out!
This is a look that I rocked a for an office thing, but I wanted to include it. I got a lot of compliments on this one! The shirt I stole from my son's closet, the earrings are from H & M, the hat is from Charlotte Russe. For make up, I used a soft black eyeliner to draw on lower lashes, the smile lines and the triangle nose. I used a lot of blush on my cheeks and the tip of my "triangle" nose, topped it off with a nude lip and I was one of the cutest Scarecrows of the day! Talk about an easy look to pull off!
My Girls were so cute carving their pumpkins, Mommy only had to help a little bit!
Here is a reminder of my nails that I did a post on the other day for Mani Monday. This was pretty easy to create, I fell like most everyone could do this.
Izzy rocked her homemade kitty costume pretty well this year! She did loose her kitty ears, so in a pinch we just did her hair in some high top knots and called it good. I used a soft black eyeliner for her whiskers and nose and added red lips. She wore a black tank top from Target, a black cardigan from H & M kids, a cheetah print tutu that we purchased at a craft bazaar a few months ago.
Noah went as a ninja, we purchased his costume at Spirit Halloween, but added some accessories as well. If I had it my way he would probably be a Monkey every year until he reached adulthood. Alas, I will let my little monkey man grow up. But he will always be MY monkey man!
I was shocked when Jack wanted to be a zombie bride for Halloween. She is usually so feminine and girly, but she wanted blood and everything. We ended up using her Cinderella wedding dress from the Disney Store. The dress is pretty small, and I almost got rid of it a couple of months ago, but I am so glad that I didn't. I did her make up with white make up, and used black eyeshadow to contour her face (as well as you can contour a 6 year old face) and added blood. I used a LOT of hairspray to give her volume and create a really messed up look. I will add that one of her favorite horror movies is a B-movie called "The Video Dead" it really is great if you like movies like that, and there were a LOT of Zombie brides in that one!
Jade also went as a zombie, but didn't want any special clothes. He wanted to look like he had just been taken over! He loves the Walking Dead! I used the same make up techniques as I did with Jack. Here they are practicing their walk, while watching Zombies on TV to make sure they got it just right.
Freddy is one of Alex's favorite horror movie characters. I for one am glad he didn't want to go as Michael Meyers. Al already has a slow scary walk, and with a Michael costume, he probably would have scared the pee out of me! I used the same blood that I put on Jade and Jack but used a coarse sponge and "dabbed" it on trying to mimic Freddy's face. Alex has horribly eyesight and if we put a mask on him he would be stumbling all over the place. It just wasn't an option but I think we did pretty good with the make up!
Happy Halloween from my family to yours!
