Decorate: Operation Tablesecape
Two weeks of planning and preparation finally come to a head. My tablescape is complete! I love that everything on the table was prepared with love. From the food we ate, the dishes we ate from, and the decorations we were surrounded with. Everything was hand crafted by myself. Our home was filled with so much laughter as my children played with their cousins. The Raiders/ Cowboys game created quite a rivalry in the family so that was very well enjoyed also.
I picked up the flowers at my local grocery store, and created the arrangements myself. This saves a lot of money if you have the time for it. I always make time to have fresh flowers in the house. I love baby's breath so had to fill a vase with that. I also scattered the table with evergreen clippings. My DIY light strand was draped around the center of the table. I set out a little bit of finger foods at this point in the day as I was waiting to bake everything. It gave the little munchkins something to munch on while they waited. As I was setting the table, I realized that I needed a little more height on the left side. I knew I was going to be making a veggie tray, so used what I had handy to and created height. By using a crystal taper candle holder on a plate, and topping with with a bowl of ranch dipping I glammed up and otherwise dull serving platter of veggies while creating height on the area of the table that was lacking. Use what you have around you, you'll be surprised with what you come up with.
The plates were a DIY kate spade inspiration that I am in LOVE with. I cut pieces of paper off of my daughters art roll into place mat sized rectangles and wrote "I am thankful for" and left 4 lines. Thanks to my Pinspiration Party Thanksgiving Edition I found this adorable idea and everyone really got a kick out of writing down what they were thankful for. My favorite was from Noah: "I am thankful for my mom and dad, for being good par ints to me" I love how he spelled parents. He's only 7, and at this age it's still endearing.
Well, there you have it. My thanksgiving tablescape. I think it came together beautifully, now we complete our 8 days of Hanukkah and prepare for Christmas. We're a festive family!
I am thankful for my incredibly family. Both the one that I created and the one I married into. I am lucky enough to have a job that I enjoy, and am fulfilled by each and every day. I am blessed to have some of the best friends in the world. I cherish my sister in a way I never could have imagined 15 years ago. She is my person, the one who weathered the storm with me, and we came out on top like we always do. I have 3 amazing dogs that I would be lost without. I am incredibly lucky! At times- in the midst of soccer practice, work meetings, therapy sessions, happy hour, story-time and everything in between- sometimes I forget that everything I am complaining about, someone else is praying for.
Best,
Pennie.
