Craft: Operation Tablescape #3 Kate Spade inspired place setting
I am officially giddy with excitement over this place setting! Let me start with the fact that these are inspired by the Fabulous Kate Spade dishes that are available at Nordstrom. However, $149 a place setting is a bit out of my reach considering I need place settings for 7 people. When I saw them I knew I could do something similar.
Are these Kate Spade dishes just to die for! I wish that I had a bottomless bank account sometimes. Her style is amazing, and if you have yet to check out her fabulous line I highly recommend it!
Here is the wine glass I created. I simply used a gold sharpie heavy dots at the top, and gradually lessening the dots towards the bottom. These got topped with a light coat of Martha Stewart's top coat in glossy. I placed them upside down to ensure that none of the spray got inside of the glasses. I want to be able to drink from them without being poisoned.
I bought 7 of these stemless wine glasses, and used a slightly larger dot with the sharpie, however the same technique. Again I placed the glasses upside down before spraying the clear coat.
Here they are! My most prized creation this month! I replicated the sporadic circular pattern of the Kate Spade dish with the gold sharpie. I then cured them in the over at 325 for about 20-30 minuets. They are able to be eaten off of, but will not find their way into the dishwasher. I don't know how well that would hold up, so thought it best to suggest hand washing only.
Please excuse the background, as I snapped these quick pictures in my office. Hence the conference room chairs int he background and lack of texture on the floors. I do love concrete floors, but I need big plush area rugs to set off the cold dark floors. But we'll save that for another day!
Best,
Pennie
