Style: fall fashion mini edition

Style:  fall fashion (mini edition)

As we have entered the colder months of the year, I cannot help but be inspired by the plethora of fashionable tots out there!  And by "tots" let me just clarify, that includes everyone under the age of 9 in my book!  I have to admit that I have a pretty bad habit of dressing my children, and/or coordinating outfits on hangers.  I tell myself that I am just saving time, but in reality I call it "obsessive mother syndrome".  The boys don't seem to care, but I think that comes from laziness more than anything.  This year has proven to be a challenge in the "what to wear to school tomorrow" hour of the evening.  I will admit to quite a few battles, and possibly some bribery to ensure we don't wear transparent tutu's and butterfly wings to school.  Although.......there is a time and a place for everything.

I think kids clothes are some of my favorite items to buy.  Since they grow like weeds I figure that they should look as great as they can for as little money as possible.  Kids are expensive, and keeping them clothed and as super stylish as possible is even more expensive.  Since I have like a bazillion kids, keeping my eye on the bottom line is always in the front of my mind.  I have found a few places to be my usual go-to's when it comes time to refresh the closets.  Here are some of my hot spots showcasing their fall lines which are available in stores now, and online at the tips of your fingertips.

If you have yet to check out H&M's kids department, let me tell you something: you are missing out!  Although I may not always be able to find a complete outfit for myself, I never cease to find fabulous outfits for the kids.  H&M's fall children's line is one of the best I've seen, that also happens to be shockingly affordable.  Mid summer I attended a children's fashion show in honor of back to school season.  I was shocked to see how great their boy's attire was.  It was very obvious to me (possibly bias since I have 3 boys) that they out shined in every aspect of that fashion show.  When it came time to stock up for the boys, I went here first!

Again, H&M knocked it out of the park for me, this time in the girls department.  I know that it's usually a give-in that mom's want their daughters in cute frilly dresses, coordinating bows and patent leather shoes.....  i. am. not. that. mom.  I want my daughter to be comfortable, but in addition I want her to wear clothes that she can play in and NOT worry about what she will do to her full tulle ballerina skirt.   Don't get me wrong, I adore the fact that my daughters wants to pair their studded lace up boots with their ballerina skirt and favorite sweaters.  I just don't want their outfit limiting their spirits.  The one thing that I really appreciate with this fall H&M line, is how versatile and coordinated the entire line is.  You can buy several pieces and they look amazing together.  I am a huge fan of mixing and matching, throw on your polka-dot skirt, unicorn tee shirt, and hello kitty cardigan.  You want to layer, throw on some leg warmers, a scarf and a feathered headband.   This line uses the same color scheme in so many ways you cannot go wrong!

Who doesn't stop in and visit Old Navy every now and then.  I know that I always go there for the boy's jeans, and their vast selection of screen print tee's.  Some of my favorite pieces Old Navy added to their fall line are the sweaters, and their button downs.  My oldest is nearly 11 (ohmygod) and he has what I call "traditionally pretty" style.  He preferes his boot cut or wide leg jeans, button down shirt atop with a screen print hoodie.  He finds some of his favorite pieces here.

Did you know that Forever21 has a girls line?  Well the do.  and. it's awesome!  I cannot gush enough about their girls line.  It's everything that you love about Forever21...mini sized.  I've got a little girl who would wear a hat to school every day if I would let her.  This hat in the first two photos is a must-grab next mall trip!  One thing that I should mention, just because it's for smaller girls does not mean that it will have a smaller price tag.  Often times when I go shopping for the girls here, I ultimately end up spending more on each of them than I do I myself.  It's just an observation, I could be buying the most expensive stuff.  They do have.....fabulous taste.
